Chances are you are already familiar with the Salvation Army. Maybe you have seen them ringing the bell near a red kettle around the holiday season, or you have volunteered at one of their food distributions. Maybe you have received assistance from them for housing, hunger, or counseling services. Regardless of how you know them, you know they have been making an impact in Lea County for a long time.
“When the going gets tough, the tough get going!” During this COVID-19 crisis, that phrase has never rung truer. We have seen significant need arise from the chaos, but we have also seen incredible partners step up to address it.
United Way is a community fundraising organization that serves to connect nonprofits to the people of Lea County.

Over 3,800 people packed themselves into the Lea County Event Center last Friday. They were there to fight hunger, treat substance abuse, end domestic violence and support youth development.
