United Way is a community fundraising organization that serves to connect nonprofits to the people of Lea County.  Every year it raises upwards of $750,000 and distributes those funds to other nonprofits.  That money goes a long way towards helping agencies pay operating expenses.

On November 9, 2019, the United Way of Lea County presented the second annual United Way Benefit Concert featuring Rodney Atkins.  The event sold about 1,800 tickets.  Overall, the concert yielded $34,000 towards the United Way annual campaign.

The event may have featured a prominent country artist, but the real stars of the show were the agencies that United Way serves.  United Way of Lea County has 15 partner agencies that were on display for the concert.  United Way displayed video ads, posters, and interacted with concert attendees.  Did you know we have a domestic violence shelter in Hobbs?  Did you know there is a residential substance abuse treatment center?  Everyone in attendance at the Benefit Concert knows.

Raising money is a great role for United Way to play in Lea County, but it does more than that.  It serves as an advocate for its agencies.  That is why the Foundation is proud to partner with the United Way of Lea County to help make our home a place with opportunity for all.
