It has been said that approximately eighty percent of a person’s health and well being can be determined by their behaviors and social and environmental factors. Finding ways to keep our family, friends, and neighbors healthy is paramount to the JF Maddox Foundation.
The Foundation recently had the opportunity to invest in initiatives our grant partners were executing to help support public health measures in Lea County. The American Heart Association, in partnership with Nor-Lea General Hospital, received a $50,000 grant to launch a campaign to combat hypertension for residents of Lea County. Another grant partner making an impact and providing resources for the youth of Lea County is the American Diabetes Association (ADA). ADA’s Camp 180 program, hosted at Fort Lone Tree Camp in Capitan, NM, was established for youth ages 8-17 years old who have been diagnosed with diabetes. With a $10,000 grant from the JF Maddox Foundation, ADA Camp 180 supported youth attending the weeklong camp.
