Ray Caraway joined the JF Maddox Foundation in September 2020. He is a native of Louisiana, having grown up in small communities much like those in Lea County. Ray received his undergraduate and law degrees from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. After practicing law for several years, he served as the CEO of foundations in Louisiana, Georgia, and Colorado. Immediately before coming to the JF Maddox Foundation, Ray was at the helm of the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado, dramatically increasing the assets, staff, and impact of the organization. During his time there, assets grew from $14 million to over $140 million and the organization led several highly successful regional initiatives. Ray and his wife, Mary, have two sons, one attending medical school as a U.S. Air Force officer, and one attending college as part of the U.S. Air Force ROTC program.
